The new Canon technology dealing with home Networking will allow users to easily establish a network which is appropriate for their needs.
This new technology allows to:
- Simplify high-Speed communication networks,
- Control equipments in different rooms of the home,
- Link a variety of environments in the home.
It is announcing a new generation of home networking products, especially addressing structured wiring market place.
It provides IEEE 1394 together with Ethernet bridging on top of a single UTP5 wire, for the integrated home network backbone.
Whereas other networks use hubs, Canon original technology employs switching technologies that enables quick, easy, low-cost data transmission at any time.
With this technology, home-based audio video networks are easy to build, the Network Adapter includes a HAVi based control unit and provides an Infra-Red audio video remote control interface. The remote unit simplifies operation, enabling residents to control a variety of equipments in any room in the house. They merely select which source they would like to view in which room. Since content can be seen/heard and edited from a separate location, there is no need to install VCRs, DVD players in each room or to carry it around on videocassettes.
In the home of the future, residents will be able to connect a range of multimedia products and to share both digital and analog content from any location. But the future applications of the Canon core technology are even broader: it could be used as a component of distributed system architecture, or to network offices.
